Charging into the Future: EV charging in Minutes with CharM

The Charging in Minutes (CharM) technology provides a fast charging system for electric vehicles, reducing the typical 4 to 6 hours EV charging time, to just an average of 30 minutes. Cultivating its design, CharM engineers made sure of the innovation’s adaptability to accommodate multiple EV charging standards.  The system also features renewable energy in its design and implementation where solar panels and energy storage are integrated in the electric vehicle charging station (EVCS).  With this configuration, the EVCS can operate even if the electric grid is down, thus increasing the energy security and resiliency of the facility.

The CharM Technology was developed inside the University of the Philippines under the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute.  With R&D funding from the Department of Science and Technology, a prototype fast charger was accomplished back in 2013 through the valiant effort of Filipino engineers from the University.  Several pilot deployments were also accomplished to test and validate the effectiveness and market fit of the technology to the local electric vehicle industry.

Armed with an electrical engineering degree from the University of the Philippines and a Certificate in Business Development and Management from the Royal Academy of Engineering in London and the Asian Institute of Management, Engr. Tayo exemplifies the perfect blend of technical and business expertise. Through this combination, a spinoff company - CHRG EV Technologies Inc. was founded in 2019. CHRG focuses on the design, manufacturing and distribution of not only electric vehicle chargers but also full EV charging stations in the Philippines.
